Adult community wellbeing work
Many of our service users have been specifically signposted to us and are often going through very tough times.
We provide a regular space for members to come chat, hang out, drink tea and make stuff at their own pace.

Over 18 months we were part of SHP's Creative Industries project.
As part of SHP's creative engagement department - (ArtHouse) and SHP’s employment initiative (ArtHouse) the Creative Industries Project. aims to enhance the connection between the two services for the benefit of clients through the provision of training courses, employability support and work placements, to support people moving further along the road of education and employment within the creative industries in London. We worked with four groups of people over 8 week courses who learnt basic woodwork skills and built some incredible stools, desks, boxes; fixed things for their appartments. Many of the participants continued their woodwork journey by coming to our regular tuesday sessions after the project finished. It was wonderfully humbling to work with these incredibly resilent individuals.
Social Action for Health (SAFH)

Social Action for Health is a community-based health charity providing services and support to people most affected by health inequalities.

We have partnered with SAFH, working with a group of Bengali men in the Tower Hamlets area on a relaxed course focusing on fun carpentry and DIY skills. The aim is to empower individuals to become more confident in using tools and fixing things at home and be able. We also help to introduce tool vocabulary and their purpose all in a relaxed atmosphere so members know what to ask for when out shopping. The first set of sessions has gone brilliantly. We've had eager DIYers of all abilities build shelves, fix locks onto cupboards, carve door wedges and spoons, making boxes and learn how to chisel in hinges

We ran a course of carving workshops based in a lovely local community garden to help clients relax, chat and learn carving in a natural environment

During Easter and Summer holidays 2022 we ran some fun carpentry sessions where local young people learnt Carpentry skills and built bespoke benches for local community gardens. Individuals worked brilliantly together to build stools and also phone holders. Click the picture to check out what they did!
